Lotus yoga is the name given to yoga performed in lotus poses also known as Padmasana. You must have seen this pose which is usually made as a symbol of yoga in front page of many books or web pages. To perform Lotus yoga one must have the required flexibility in the knees and hips. People having a history of previous knee or hip injury must always consult experts before attempting Lotus yoga. Lotus yoga is considered significant when considering yoga for meditation. To perform Lotus yoga you must have proper clothing which is loose and soft. The clothing should not be slippery. Yoga mat is essential as it prevents undue pressure on your knees when maintaining lotus pose. Relax your muscles, bend your knees and bring feet to rest on the opposite thigh. Right foot is placed on the left thigh and left foot on the right thigh. The sole of the foot faces the sky. Try to bring your feet as close as possible to your hips. After this position is maintained keep your hands one on the other and rest them in between and arms rest on the knees. Once the pose is maintained try to focus in the mid point between your eyebrows. Try to focus on your breath. Try holding this pose for as long as possible. Gradually you can add on time. Lotus yoga is found very beneficial to awaken one’s kundalini. Various poses can be performed under Lotus yoga.
